Now that the smoke from forest fires has cleared up locally, a Public Health Nurse says it wasn’t a breathing risk for most of us.
However, Lyne Soramaki explains even though we’re far away from any major fires, they can still cause problems for people with sensitive lungs.
“If they’re having some trouble breathing, having a bit of a runny nose or sore throat, they should try to stay indoors and keep the windows closed. If they’re having more difficulty breathing, they should seek medical attention.”
Soramaki says that isn’t the only danger from drifting smoke.
She reminds you that while the sun might be covered by smoke or clouds, you still need to use sunscreen to protect yourself from sun damage and sunburn.
