The federal government is promising up to $6-million to bring clean water to a northern First Nation community.
The Minister of Indigenous Services Seamus O’Regan announced the funding yesterday for a water treatment plant upgrade for Nibinamik First Nation.
The community 500 kilometres northwest of Thunder Bay has been under a drinking water advisory for six years.
Chief of Nibinamik, Johnny Yellowhead, says it shows the government understands they need “more than a band-aid approach”.
