Winter Could Hit Thunder Bay Again

Advice from Environment Canada to check your basement for any bit of flooding from this weekend’s rain.

Meteorologist Mark Schuster tells us the worst of what affected this area is over.

“It looked like the worst of it came in the late afternoon, or early evening period, and then slowly tapered off into the overnight. It looks like around 25mm or so fell.”

The meteorologist adds with the ground still frozen, it can’t absord the rain very well.

However, he’s also looking ahead to a weather system that could affect this area later this week.

“Late Thursday through Friday, sometime in that time frame. At this point it looks like some areas might see some significant amounts of snow, so it looks like it could be a major winter storm.”

Schuster adds he’s not sure yet if Thunder Bay will be impacted, or by how much.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
