A local woman who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 21 wants to drum up support for fundraising efforts.
At the start of the Cancer Society’s Daffodil Month campaign, Jeiyd Sedgwick tells us support for research means treatment for her condition is much better than it was 20 years ago.
“…that would have been about a 5-7 year outlook for that. So, that’s a huge change as far as going from 60 percent chances to 95 percent chances of survival.”
The local woman also reminds you to get checked for cancer.
“Check yourself, check yourself, check yourself. Listen to yourself, get screening, even if you think you’re crazy; you are feeling something; you might as well check because knowing is better than not knowing.”
