General Motors Helps Oshawa Workers

General Motors says they’re giving financial support to workers laid off from their plant in Oshawa.

In a statement, GM Canada says they have been contacted by many employers looking to hire the highly-skilled workers from the assembly plant.

GM Canada says job fairs and targeted training programs are being organized to help transition auto workers to their next career.

According to the statement, over 50 per cent of permanent hourly workers at the Oshawa plant qualify for a GM Canada pension plan.

GM Canada says the plant shutdown affected nearly 3000 workers.
