There appears to be a mystery surrounding the status of Fire Chief John Hay.
City Manager Norm Gale will only tell us Hay is “away from the office” noting “Deputy Chief Greg Hankkio is the acting fire chief.” Gale adds he has “no other comment to make.”
On the City of Thunder Bay website John Hay’s name is not listed on the Fire Contacts page under Administration. However, Hay’s Message From the Fire Chief is still available to read on the Fire Rescue web page.
Hay has been city fire chief since October of 2007.
