Your Opinion On Cannabis Legalization

Cannabis is set to become a legal drug in Canada on Wednesday.

And, depending on which province you live in, there’ll be various ways on which you can buy it.

With the Ford government in Ontario, it’ll be sold strictly on-line starting this week, but that’ll change in April.

The province is giving municipalities until January 22nd to decide if they want to opt out of selling the drug or not.

We took our news mic to the community and asked if you think Thunder Bay city council should opt out and not allow cannabis to be sold in private stores.

Of the many people who believe Thunder Bay should sell it, one noted too many people already smoke it, no point in opting out. Many cited the medicinal benefits, while another person noted cannabis is ok in its altered form. That means not as a drug, or in its high inducing form.

One person said “open the floodgates and let it happen.”

Another added if it’s open to review that’s fine, the city should have some input. We already have some problems, it’s wise to have it.

One man wondered if it’ll help the economy, and it’s legal everywhere else, why not here?

On the flip side, one individual felt allowing cannabis will open a huge can of worms, we already have a big drug problem in this town, this will only make it worse.
Another felt this whole issue is taking too much time, it’s been going on and on and on. He added it’s not a great idea, and there’s much more important issues to deal with.

And some noted people will still use it, might as well control it.
