It’s a statutory day off for many of us, while for others in the service industry it is a workday.
Major grocery stores like Safeway, Metro, and the Superstore are all open this civic holiday Monday.
Department stores like Walmart and Canadian Tire are also open as is the Intercity Shopping Centre.
Select LCBO and Beer Store outlets are also open. Hours operation are adjusted in some cases, however.
As for what is actually closed, most business offices are locked up as are federal, provincial and city operations.
There is also no mail delivery and city transit buses are running but on a holiday schedule.
