Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute was closed Wednesday after a reported threat to the school community.
School officials said the decision was made out of an abundance of caution, adding that student safety remains the top priority. Classes were cancelled for the day and buses were dispatched to return students home.
In a notice sent to families, the school said it was working to ensure the safety and security of students and staff.
The Lakehead District School Board has now announced that “there is no credible threat to the school community,” thanking the police for their assistance, and the school community for their patience and understanding.
Westgate will be open once more on Thursday.
