“Weed Out The Risk” Guides Students

The Lakehead Public Board is working with the provincial government, as well as community groups such as the Crime Prevention Council and Drug Strategy on a three component approach to advise students about cannabis use.

Education Officer Jeff Upton points to education, prevention and management through a program called “Weed Out the Risk”.

He says while schools will work with community groups to help affected students, it’ll still be up to families not to rely solely on the education system.

Students will need to remember cannabis is the same as alcohol, it won’t be allowed on school property, and sold only to those 19 and older.

Upton adds the board is still waiting on some further instruction from the province.
