I know that the Grand Ole Opry occasionally invites people who aren’t country artists to perform, but those are few and far between and usually it’s people who are VERY accomplished singers. I mean Vince and Motley Crue have conquered the rock world several times but he’s never been known to be the most…um…talented vocalist. He’s been working hard to get in shape for the stadium tour that Motley Crue is on with Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts so maybe that had some influence here? Carrie Underwood being a HUGE rock fan and actually covering Home Sweet Home during her American Idol days may also have helped.
