Walk Highlights River Of Tears

A community walk hopes to promote healing for the families of loved ones who have died in Thunder Bay’s area river and waterways.

It’s being put on by second year Confederation College students in the Native Child and Family Services program.

Spokesperson Madeline Lees tells us the River of Tears is such a big part of our community.

“We really wanted to bring attention to it because we feel that a lot of our community members are suffering, we wanted to not only bring attention to it but make sure there is healing and hope.”

The walk starts at Confederation College at ten tonight and continues to the McIntyre River. Officials say they’ll continue to be outside drumming and gathering until midnight.
