Some people wait all year for patio season. Me? I wait for that moment when my pop has been sitting in the sun just long enough to get a little too warm… and suddenly tastes like childhood.
I know. I know. Lori is already making the face. But listen – there’s something about hot pop on a summer day that hits different.
It takes me straight back to Little Dog Lake, sand stuck to my legs, swimming & suntanning then having an epic picnic. I loved grabbing a can of Coca-Cola and let it bake on a towel for an hour, crack it open, and it tasted like pure July. No ice. No koozie. Just sunshine in a can.
And while our Country 105 listener Lori is over here clutching her pearls at the idea of warm carbonation, I’m fully embracing it. Because summer isn’t supposed to be perfect – it’s supposed to be messy, nostalgic, and a little bit chaotic.
Which brings us to this morning, where Lori and I are on air talking about fancy picnic food when I drop “Don’t forget the hot pop.”
Lori: “Absolutely not.” Me: “Absolutely yes.”
