Thunder Bay’s Health Unit has a familiar face back at the helm.
Joe Virdiramo is back as Chair of the Board for the third year in a row.
He says one of the issues they are keeping an eye on is legalizing cannabis and whether they will get money from the federal government since they will be providing public health initiatives around its use.
Other issues they are monitoring closely include recommendations from a provincial expert panel on health that suggests changes to the way health units are run, how board members are elected and whether the Thunder Bay and Northwest Health Units should merge.
Virdiramo adds they’ll also be keeping a tight leash on spending since their 12 million dollar budget was just recently approved by City Council. (File photo)
