UPDATED: Snowfall warning ends in Thunder Bay, continues elsewhere

Parts of northwestern Ontario are bracing for significant snowfall this weekend.

A snowfall warning remains in effect for Nipigon, Rossport, Marathon and Schreiber.

Heavy snow that developed on Saturday evening is expected to continue throughout the day Sunday.

Forecasters are calling for snowfall totals of between 15 and 25 centimetres by the time the snow ends, with locally high accumulations along the Lake Superior shorelines.

“The highest accumulations are expected near the northern shore of the lake,” Environment Canada said in the warning.

Motorists are urged to be prepared to adjust their driving to changing road conditions.

Thunder Bay was initially under the snowfall warning but it has since ended for the city.
