‘Unusual Circumstances’ Surround South Side Fire

Police will be investigating the cause of a fire at a south side residence.

Fire crews were called just after 8:30 Sunday morning to the North Syndicate Avenue home.

It is located between Northern Avenue and Durban Street.

An official with Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue tells us the blaze started in the basement of the home and no one was there at the time.

Neighbours told fire officials the people living there had gone out to camp for the weekend.

We are told the cause is undetermined and that there may be “unusual circumstances” surrounding it .

As a result of that city police have been asked to investigate.

Smoke and heat damage to the inside of the house is extensive.
