The Victoria Day long weekend marks the unofficial start of the tourism season in Thunder Bay.
City Tourism Manager Paul Pepe expects more Americans to visit the city this year than did last year.
He believes the lower value of the Canadian dollar makes the area more attractive to U.S. visitors and also helps to temper the ‘sticker shock’ of our higher gasoline prices.
Pepe notes most of the Americans who arrived this weekend are here to fish since we continue to have “the best fresh water angling in North America.”
