One piece of public transit is now a piece of public art.
The city officially launched its Art Bus yesterday, which is a transit bus fully wrapped in animated artwork by local artists.
Public Art Committee Chair Daniel Hansen says its purpose is to integrate creativity into daily, urban life.
The project was funded by dollars provided by the Clean, Green and Beautiful Committee, and Chair Rebecca Johnson says the Art Bus is now another thing that identifies with Thunder Bay culture.
The bus will travel all routes for a year, and is also being used as a charter and shuttle to city events this summer. (Photo: Caryn Ceolin)
