Drivers take note, the City of Thunder Bay in the process of looking at how to best coordinate traffic signals.
Project engineer Matthew Miedema tells us it is all part of the city’s blueprint for the future of transportation in Thunder Bay.
The city official suggests the idea is to synchronize traffic lights on major streets to allow for better flow.
On Arthur Street, for example, Miedema says the goal would be to allow a vehicle, travelling at the posted speed limit, to move through four of five controlled intersections without having to stop.
“We are looking at improving the signal coordination and that should help with the overall…traffic flow through the city, ” notes Miedema who admits it is a big project which will take a few years to get up and running.
