Thunder Bay Mayor Bill Mauro will be holding decorum in a virtual town hall.
There will be a few focuses of the meeting Wednesday night, including city debt and the current financial state of the city resulting from COVID-19.
“I’ve asked for the Head of Finance Linda Evans to prepare the financial picture when it comes to our debt situation,” said Mauro. “I want to communicate to the community that there’s actually better news in there then some people seem to think. I’ve also asked her to be prepared to help me to convey to the community where we are when it comes to the financial state of the city relative to COVID-19.”
Mauro goes on to mention that the pandemic may have caused more interest in local politics.
“I think there’s more engagement at the municipal level generally from the public than provincial of federal so that’s a good thing,” stated Mauro. “Whether it’s gone up or down, I’m not necessarily sure, I suppose it’s possible that the COVID situation has had an impact on this and people paying more attention.”
If you want to submit a question you have until 4:00 p.m. Wednesday to do so by emailing OfficeoftheCityClerk@thunderbay.ca or by calling 625-2230.
