A local company is lending a helping hand to Orillia and the surrounding area following a major ice storm.
TIL-KA Construction DKI offers a range of services, including Disaster Recovery Services.
The company sent out a team that left on Wednesday, traveling through snow, freezing rain, 70 km/h winds, and a severe thunderstorm.
The company’s disaster recovery service assists in the aftermath of natural disasters, including damage assessment, debris removal, and structural repairs.
According to Til-Ka, the recent storm has left a trail of widespread disruption, including long-term power outages affecting municipalities and residents throughout the county.
“The downed power lines have caused significant damage to critical transportation infrastructure, further hindering emergency response efforts,” said Til-Ka in a release. “Additionally, communities continue to face disruptions to water supply and telecommunications infrastructure, complicating recovery efforts.”
The team is helping with the ongoing recovery process, including clearing debris and brush and restoring flood-damaged homes.
