An enforcement campaign on lakes in the Thunder Bay, Gorham and Shebandowan areas is resulting in several tickets issued against boaters.
Ontario Provincial Police and Ministry of Natural Resources marine patrols are teaming up on the initiative this summer.
They say it is intended to educate residents and visitors about boat safety and fishing regulations.
The operation has included mandatory alcohol screening and fish inspections, with specific attention paid to Dog Lake and Kashabowie Lake.
Patrols were conducted last weekend on Shebandowan, Two Island, Surprise and One Island Lakes, where a multitude of infractions were observed.
They include open liquor or cannabis on board and missing safety equipment such as life jackets and flashlights.
Some were cited for throwing beer cans into the lake.
The campaign will continue until the end of summer.
