A pair of Lakehead Thunderwolves teams jump on a plane while one wraps up their homestand at the Fort William Gardens.
The basketball teams will make their way to Waterloo to engage in a weekend double-header with the Laurier Golden Hawks.
The men come into these games with a 1-3 record while the women sport an 0-4 mark early on.
Both teams will have to follow strict COVID-19 protocols, which includes proving that everybody is fully vaccinated, a volunteer escorting the team into the facility and limiting the spaces that the athletes can go throughout their stay.
On the ice, the men’s hockey team (2-4) play a pair of games against the Toronto Varsity Blues, which will include Saturday’s Teddy Bear Toss.
“It always adds an element to the atmosphere at the rink and it also seems to be one of our better nights for attendance,” noted Head Coach Andrew Wilkins.
When it comes to facing off with the winless Blues, “Definitely have a good team coming into the Gardens. I think two years ago, for a majority of the season, they were a nationally ranked team. They have a lot of their core guys back so it’ll be a tough test for us for sure.”
Game time both Friday and Saturday will be 7:00 p.m.
