Thunder Bay is trying to get feedback on potential new art for the city.
They have launched a survey and are hosting a couple of open houses to gather input on what public art will be permanently installed as part of the city’s North Core Street Scape Public Art Installations Project.
The city is deciding between four works of art that have been selected as finalists for two locations.
The selected art will be displayed in the Court Street Plaza and Mall Street Plaza.
“Engaging the public is an important element of helping the jury make their final decisions for this exciting project,” said Cultural Development & Public Art Coordinator, Laurie Abthorpe.
Residents are welcome to visit one of the open houses taking place on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Mary JL Black Library and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Goods & Co. Market.
Pictures of the art can also be viewed on the online survey which can be found on the city’s Get Involved website here.
The survey closes on December 20.
The four finalist art pieces were selected from a city art competition.
Canadian artists and artist teams were invited to submit proposals for the project through an open Call to Artists.
The project aims to revitalize the city’s north core by redesigning streets to create a flexible, dynamic, and human-centred space that meets the needs of the community.
