Thunder Bay resident facing multiple assault charges

A Thunder Bay resident is facing multiple charges stemming from an alleged assault.

On Tuesday officers were sent to Amelia Street West around 9:00 p.m. after receiving reports of an assault.

Upon arrival, no suspect was on scene but a victim was located and officers were informed that he was hit in the head by a man with a piece of wood.

The victim was assessed at the scene by paramedics.

Police were provided with a description of the suspect and were able to locate them nearby and arrest them.

During the arrest, the suspect assaulted a police officer adding to their list of charges.

A 43-year-old Thunder Bay resident is facing the following charges:

  • Assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assaulting a peace officer
  • Breach of recognizance
  • Failure to comply with a probation order

The accused appeared in court on Wednesday and they remain in custody with a future court date.
