Maclean’s magazine is out with its annual list of Canada’s most dangerous places.
They base their rankings on Statistics Canada data and have compiled the top 20 places with the highest level of overall crime.
Thunder Bay doesn’t rank in the top 50, we are at #68 out of 237 communities.
Mayor Keith Hobbs says 68 is better than being in the top 10.
He notes they’ve done a lot of work to try to reduce crime. Hobbs says “we have a Police Service that are excellent at solving crime.”
He adds “the magazine also ranks Thunder Bay 103rd in Crime Severity Index which is a phenomenal drop. We were 88th the previous year.”
