The City is continuing to address a water main break on Fort William Road, near First Avenue.
“We’re still looking for the leak itself, it is very difficult to locate this leak,” said the Superintendent of Water Distribution and Waste Water Collection, David Warwick. “Sometimes it’s simple, we know exactly where it is and we can get in there and fix it.”
“Other times it’s a difficult process trying to determine exactly where the pipe is leaking. Once we find the leak, we’ll be able to give a little better estimate on repairs, but the severity of the break will determine how long the repairs are gonna take.”
The road remains reduced to a single lane of traffic in each direction between First Avenue and Water Street.
For election day modifications are being made to ensure access to 450 Fort William Road, which serves as a polling station for the election.
Access will be available from the southbound lane only, and voters will be required to exit heading south. Northbound traffic will not be able to access the driveway.
Residents in the area are reminded that they may experience discoloured water and/or a decrease in water pressure during the repair process.
If discoloured water occurs, residents are advised to run a cold water tap as close to the water meter as possible for approximately 10-15 minutes, or until the water runs clear.
If the issue persists, residents can contact city dispatch at 807-625-2195.
