Thunder Bay launches new storytelling contest

Thunder Bay has launched a new contest open to everyone.

What Makes Thunder Bay Great is a new community storytelling campaign and contest.

Individuals and groups are welcome to submit short written reflections about what they love about Thunder Bay and what gives it potential for the future.

Submissions may be featured in the City’s Smart Growth Action Plan, online, and in future community promotions.

“We know Thunder Bay has incredible stories of pride and possibility,” said City Manager John Collin. “This campaign is about capturing those stories and celebrating the spirit of our community as we plan for Smart Growth and a strong future.”

Participants can submit a short, written piece of up to 250 words, online by clicking here, by email to great@thunderbay.ca, or in person at City Hall.

Entries from minors must be submitted by a parent or guardian.

All entries will be entered into a random prize draw, with prizes awarded in three age categories:

  • Children and Youth (17 and under)
  • Young Adult/Student (18–25)
  • Adult (26+)

One grand prize winner will have their full submission featured in the Smart Growth Action Plan and will receive a City of Thunder Bay Prize Pack, including local experiences and City program passes.

The deadline for submissions is June 1.
