A drug trafficking investigation in Thunder Bay has led to two arrests and the seizure of a loaded handgun and illegal drugs.
Officers searched a home on Cumberland Street north on Thursday afternoon.
Inside, two suspects were arrested and officers seized quantities of suspected cocaine and fentanyl, along with cash and a firearm.
As a result, a 40-year-old is facing the following charges:
- Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Careless storage of firearm
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)
The accused was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for charges of: Assault, theft of motor vehicle, mischief, and uttering threats.
Another 40-year-old is also facing the following charges:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
Both of the accused remain in custody with future court dates.
