Thunder Bay is celebrating Local Government Week.
The commemorative initiative recognizes the role that local government plays in the community.
“When people participate, share feedback, and stay informed about municipal decision and issues, they can shape policies and programs that impact their day to day lives,” said Deputy City Clerk and Manager of Legislative Services, Jeff Walters.
“When people have a better understanding of our services or how decisions are made, we can incorporate their feedback into our operations.”
As part of Local Government Week, the city is encouraging residents to learn more about how local government functions, its employees, and explore opportunities for involvement.
The week will be featured during the upcoming Thunder Bay Talks event taking place on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Moose Hall at 434 Fort William Road.
This event encourages the public to come and ask questions, share their thoughts, or simply meet the people behind City services and programs.
The Association of Municipalities of Ontario has released resources and more information about the week which can be found by clicking here.
