The Return Of The Polar Bear Plunge

The two-year hiatus of the Thunder Bay Polar Bear Plunge is over.

It returns on April 9th to Marina with all funds raised supporting Special Olympics Thunder Bay, Roots to Harvest, the Thunder Bay chapter of CNIB and PRO Kids.

“The Thunder Bay Polar Bear Plunge has been an event that people in the city have looked forward to for more than 10 years now,” says Inspector Ryan Gibson, event chair of the 2022 plunge. “It’s a fun and crazy day and plungers have always gotten into the spirit of it by dressing up, making funny team names and literally jumping outside of their comfort zones to make a difference for local charities.”

The plunge will happen between 11 am – 3 pm with the fundraising goal set at $50,000.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
