No matter how long I have had the privilege of speaking to you on the radio it never ceases to amaze me how powerful a medium it can be. Monday morning we went on the air to help raise money for the Christmas Cheer fund. There has been a lot of ways this year to support good causes and the Cheer fund was running behind so there was some nervousness at the CLE.
But then you responded. You donated by text. You dropped off food. You dropped off cash and cheques. I can’t possibly thank everyone who came by but each gift was humbling to watch as you heard the need and came through big time.
By the time we signed off 12 hours later we had raised over $80,000. Double what we raised yesterday. I can’t imagine as a father having to choose between giving my kids a Christmas and paying the rent. And now thanks to your generosity thousands of families in Thunder Bay this year will have gifts to open on December 25th and food for the holidays.
