The Force Is Strong With This One

I love Star Wars. I’m not ashamed to admit that at one point in time, my ‘phone name’ at work was Luke in honour of Luke Skywalker. Actually, I was always more of a Han Solo fan, but that name was already taken! My oldest son has picked up on many of the things I love: DnD, Harry Potter, Lego and (most importantly) Star Wars, which makes me very happy. I was overjoyed to be able to take him to see all of the latest movies from the last few years (Rogue One, The Force Awakens, Solo and The Last Jedi) but this new one feels special. It’s the end of the latest trilogy and the end of the saga that was started in 1977 with ‘A New Hope’. Over the last few years, many of the characters that I grew up knowing and loving have been killed off and I suspect we will see the last of them go with The Rise of Skywalker. I can pretty much promise there will be tears in the theater, at least from me. My son is pretty computer savvy and keeps up on all of the developments with the Star Wars universe, sending me all of the trailer updates and movie schedules so that we have plenty to talk about when we get together. Not that talking is EVER a problem for either one of us! In any case, he recently sent me two trailers and I am giddy with anticipation! Disney’s new streaming channel is launching on November 12th and one of the first original series they will be presenting is The Mandalorian which takes place 5 years after Return of the Jedi and follows a lone Mandalorian gunman. Think Boba Fett…if you were a fan of the iconic bounty hunter, this show will be for you (I have both a Boba Fett and Mandalorian symbol tattoo so, you know I’m in!). At Christmas, the final chapter of the Skywalker story will come out in theaters. I am ridiculously excited for both!

Check out the trailers for The Rise of Skywalker and The Mandalorian below!
