This term of council has been in session for a year. This new council campaigned and was elected on the premise that they would change how council was run, and how fiscal responsibility will be the new norm. A year later, this same council as spent just over $1.9 million dollars outside of the budget that they voted on and approved back in February, and they did it again last night. This time with $50,000.00 for the 50th anniversary celebrations (wait? didnt we KNOW this was coming? Why wasn’t it in the budget??)
Why is this happening? Where’s the responsibility? Where’s the change? And how much trouble are we in next year with a new budget.
