Wild hats, mint juleps, and the real stars, the horses, will converge on Churchill Downs in Louisville this Saturday for the 155th Kentucky Derby. Here’s the latest leading to the race:
Journalism is the overall favorite to win with 3-1 odds.
Other oddsmakers include 5-1 Sovereignty and 6-1 Sandman. However, ‘Sportsline’ horse racing expert Gene Menez, who has accurately predicted superfecta wins multiple times over the last decade, is high on Blue Grass Stakes winner Burnham Square, a 12-1 longshot, since the horse has a “willingness to pass other horses” on the track. He calls Burnham Square the Derby’s “best value”.
Even though many favor the Arkansas Derby winner, Menez isn’t pinning much on Sandman.
The Kentucky Derby begins at 6:57 pm EST on NBC. GOOD LUCK!
