Thunder Bay’s Terry Fox Monument and Visitor Centre will be getting some new upgrades thanks to a $319,423 investment from the province’s Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation.
The centre will be receiving roof repairs, upgraded walkways and trails, landscaping, new outdoor picnic tables and benches.
The City of Thunder Bay will also be installing new interactive digital displays.
Restoration work will also be carried out on the 30-year-old monument to Terry Fox.
The provincial government says the improvements will help extend the lifespan of the attraction, make it more appealing to tourists, and make the area more safe and accessible.
