4 times a day, Danny brings you “TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD”. Danny shares ‘good news stories’ / ‘feel good stories’…kind of like your ‘daily dose of optimism’. You can hear it weekdays at 6:35am / 9:10am / 1:10pm / 4:35pm.

Here’s one from TODAY:

This story comes from Sussex, England, about Barby Keel. She’s 90 years old. For the past 55 years, she’s dedicated her life to rescuing animals in need. That’s about 10,000 animals she’s rescued from neglect, abuse, abandonment. She’s created the Barby Keel Sanctuary.

It all started with a simple favour in the 1970s….she was taking care of a soldier’s dog while he was station in Ireland. Her sanctuary now takes up 12 acres, and is home to almost 600 animals.Dogs, cats, horses, chickens and even pigs! She spent the first 20 years running it on her own, but it go so big…she needed help. HER ENTIRE TEAM NOW – are volunteers.

Barby uses her own pension to buy pet food in bulk. She was asked what her secret is to staying strong? Her answer: “hard work and a breakfast of beans every morning”!
