So many people – in Canada and the U.S having been dealing not only with cold weather / but a lot of snow. Two teens in Maryland decided to turn the huge amount of snow they received – into something a whole lot brighter.
13‑year‑old Adeline and her friend Maeve spent hours carving ice bricks with a shovel and hauling them by sled to build… an igloo. And not just anywhere — they built it on the front lawn of a home that burned down a few months ago, hoping to bring a little unity and hope back to the neighborhood.
It was an all day / all night event. When the sun went down, Adeline’s whole family joined in. Dad brought out headlamps, mom took photos, and by late night – the igloo had a roof, ice chairs, even a little table inside. They left a guest book, and neighbors filled it with messages like “My kids love it!” and “This brings back childhood memories.”
Adeline says seeing people smile as they walked by made all the hard work worth it. In a week full of ice, snow and frustration, two teens managed to build something warmer — a reminder that community can always be rebuilt.
