An apology from the Premier and Education Minister to students has been demanded from the president of the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario.
Both Doug Ford and Lisa Thompson suggested student protests last week were driven by teacher unions.
Sam Hammond also had a warning for the Premier.
“Don’t forget Doug Ford, those students are going to be voting in the next provincial election, and we’re voting with them.”
The union boss made his remarks during a rally Saturday at the Ontario legislature, two days after thousands of students walked out of class to protest changes to education.
“How dare they, how dare they say that some union boss, or some union thug told them what to do.”
Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation President Harvey Bishoff says the demonstrations are necessary.
“We have to gather to send a clear message that cuts to education are wrong, they are unacceptable.”
The Teacher’s Federation President worries the changes are leading to the privatization of the education system.
