Teachers’ Contract Talks Start Up Tomorrow

All eyes will be on contract talks between the Catholic School board and the union representing elementary teachers.

Both sides are getting back to the bargaining table tomorrow in an effort to avoid a strike or lockout situation.

Aldo Grillo of the Ontario English Catholic Teacher’s Association says he’s hopeful a provincially appointed conciliator will be able to bridge the gap between the sides.

He says the two sides were close last time, but they’ll have to go over some of the territory they covered once again before they get to the only outstanding issue, seniority rights.

Two days have been set aside for those talks.
