TBRHSC Catching Up On Non-Urgent, Non-Emergent Surgeries

Procedures and surgeries that are non-urgent or non-emergent will be able to resume at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC) .

Spokesperson Marcello Bernardo said Friday that with the province lifting Directive #2, the TBRHSC will follow a gradual, cautious and balanced approach to bringing them back, which will be informed by several system level indicators including intensity of community transmission, medical and surgical hospital capacity, ICU capacity and available health human resources.

As of Friday, there were 47 patients admitted who are COVID-19 positive, which includes nine who require treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU).

The medical / surgical occupancy is approximately 101.9% and ICU occupancy is at 90.9%.
