Synergy North Warns Of Scams

Be aware of possible hydro scams either by phone or email.

Synergy North issued the advisory last weekend, after several businesses were targeted.

Spokesperson Leslie Racco says the scams can sound very legitimate.

“They mimic Synergy North calls,” explains Racco.

“They imitate our employees. They know what wording to say. So just be alert. Look at the timing of the call and remember where your account standing is and maybe question if you are at risk for disconnection or immediate payment.”

Racco says Synergy North never warns of imminent disconnection for non-payment, gives notice and waits 14 days before any disconnection.

Synergy North operates the hydro system in Kenora and Thunder Bay.
