Breaking News: CUPE Strike Averted

There will be no strike by public school employees who are members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees.

It follows a tentative agreement between the union and the province who have been bargaining non-stop for the last several days.

In Thunder Bay the tentative deal affects custodial, maintenance and cafeteria workers at the Lakehead Public School Board.

They were scheduled to go on strike Monday morning if no agreement was reached.

The board had contingency plans in place had the walkout taken place.
