St. Thomas Aquinas Saints fall to 0-2 at OFSAA curling championships

Kenora’s St. Thomas Aquinas boys curling team dropped their second straight game Thursday morning at the all-Ontario championships in Thunder Bay.

The Saints fell 8-5 to Nicholson Catholic School from Belleville.

The Saints led 2-0 after two ends, but surrendered the lead in the third end when they gave up 3.

The teams exchanged points over the next three ends before Nicholson pulled away with 2 points in the 7th and 8th ends.

The Saints foursome next face St. Patrick’s Catholic High School from Sarnia.

In the other game involving a northwestern Ontario school, Thunder Bay’s St. Patrick’s High School’s boys team lost 7-4 to Maple Ridge Secondary School from Arva, located north of London.

The teams swapped points over the first 6 ends, with Maple Ridge scoring once in the 7th and sealing the win in the final end.

St. Patrick’s falls to 1-1, with their next game Thursday night against Mississauga’s St. Francis Xavier.
