Forest fires in the Prairies are expected to impact air quality in northwestern Ontario.
Environment Canada initially issued a special air quality statement for the Thunder Bay District around 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, before upgrading it to an air quality warning early Tuesday afternoon.
Smoke from the fires is expected to move into the district on Tuesday morning, potentially remaining into Wednesday for some areas.
As smoke levels increase, health risks increase as well.
Environment Canada is advising that you limit your time outdoors.
You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough.
The air quality declines further west in the region.
Air quality warnings have been issued for the Sioux Lookout, Dryden, Kenora, and Fort Frances areas, and northern First Nations like Pikangikum, Muskrat Dam, and Mishkeegogamang.
