An OPP officer in Kenora has been cleared of any wrong-doing when a 27-year-old man was arrested in May of 2019. The man was arrested for breaking a bail condition and was picked up walking near the Kenora Jail.
The suspect in question sustained a fractured and dislocated left knee and complained about pain in one of his legs once he was in his cell. OPP took him to the hospital to be examined following the complaint.
The Special Investigations Unit investigated and determined there were no reasonable grounds to lay criminal charges against the officer. The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
