Sidewalk Issue Comes Back To Council

City Council is going to hear on Monday about how they can improve pedestrian safety on Woodcrest Road.

Residents wanted a sidewalk between John Street Road and Hutton Park Drive.

However, administration says it can’t be built because the area isn’t fully built and not all lots have sewer and water service.

Staff say the most effective way to ensure safety would be to prohibit street parking on both sides of the road.

It would improve visibility and allow more space for pedestrians walking along Woodcrest to move off the road on to the shoulder.

Council would need to approve the change in their traffic by-law. (File photo)
