Sewer Construction To Stop Flooding

As a result of flooding that happens in Thunder Bay from storms such as the one in June, and in 2012, storm sewer contruction will start on Churchill Drive from the Neebing/McIntyre Floodway to Edward Street, and Wiltshire Crescent and Westminster Street.

The goal is to redirect water to the Neebing River, away from peoples’ homes.

Councillor Shelby Ch’ng says there’ll be a public meeting in September to discuss the two floods.

She adds the money will come from the Enhanced Infrastructure Renewal Fund, that is designed specifically for sewer and curb maintenance. Work starts next week, lasting six to eight weeks.
