Memorial Avenue Collision Claims Life

The 49-year-old woman in a wheelchair involved in a serious collision with a vehicle last night has died.

A uniformed patrol supervisor with local police and a nearby CP Railway Police officer arrived on the scene and performed CPR on the victim.

Fire and EMS provided the woman with emergency first aid as well but was pronounced dead after being treated by Superior North EMS.

The collision occurred on Memorial Avenue near the 10th Avenue around 9:30 last night.

Police say the victim was in a wheelchair in a southbound lane of Memorial when the driver of a southbound vehicle hit her.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene, as did several witnesses.

Police are in the process of contacting her next of kin.

Officials are asking any witnesses or people with information to reach out to police at 684-1276.
