Schreiner Tests Positive for COVID-19

Green Party leader Mike Schreiber says he has tested positive for COVID-19.

Schreiner says the presence of the virus was confirmed through a rapid test conducted Wednesday night.

The Green Party leader had participated in a candidate’s debate in his home riding of Guelph just a few hours prior.

“After close contact with a staff member, I tested positive for COVID-19 via rapid test this evening,” says Schreiner in a brief statement. “I’m fully vaccinated and am feeling fine. As public health advises, I will self-isolate for a few days and will continue campaigning remotely from home.”

Schreiner was scheduled to make a number of campaign stops in southern Ontario on Thursday.

It included plans to make an announcement in Guelph on protecting water and attendance later in the day to an Ontario Nurses Association rally against Bill 124 in Toronto.

He will still virtually take part in a morning speaking engagement and make the campaign announcement.

Deputy Leader Diane Sax will be filling in for Schreiner at the ONA rally.
